One of Texas’ Top Designers Joins MAKO
Earlier this year, we celebrated the opening of our new space in Austin, Texas. As a leading city in design and entrepreneurship, we are quickly adjusting to Austin’s progressive and creative culture. We love being a part of a city that is at the forefront of innovation, and more importantly, we love knowing that we are contributing to that growth.
Apart from hosting well-known tech credentials such as South by Southwest (SXSW), Austin’s innovation status is due to it being an epicentre of hardware industry giants like Dell and Freescale Semiconductor, as well as talented industrial designers.
For MAKO, building a strong team that cultivates Austin’s culture and encompasses the city’s characteristics of innovation is extremely rewarding. This month is a huge month for us as we welcome one of Austin, Texas’ top designers to our team.
Welcoming MAKO’s Director of Design, Tim Uys
A Texas Top Designer, Tim Uys, comes to MAKO with over 20 years of experience in consulting and designing for innovative industry leaders such as Foxtel Australia, Altech UEC, Dell, Freescale, and Nike. With his passion for design, hunger for innovation, and observant nature, Tim is constantly redefining the ever evolving concept of design.
Graduating from the University of Johannesburg in Engineering and Industrial Design and establishing himself as a lead designer in the U.S. for over 12 years has led him to develop an advanced understanding of different design processes and cultures. He has essentially become recognized as an international achiever.
His world-class designs have shaken the industrial design industry and presented him with numerous design awards both internationally and across the United States. In his free time, Tim enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and flying Stunt Kites on windy days.
He’s married with a beautiful daughter and has family in four out of the seven continents. As an expert in consumer products, conceptualization, mechanical development, prototyping and production implementation, we are delighted to have him join the Austin Team as our Director of Design in the U.S.
With Tim’s credentials, talent and love for the industry, we are confident that our clients are in excellent hands. Having a Texas top designer join our team is a great step towards building a team that is a reflection of Austin’s world-class status.
With our new Director, Design settling in comfortably in his new office, we can’t wait to kick start the new year with some major projects that will undoubtedly disrupt multiple industries!
