Magnus Sköld, our Senior Industrial Designer, recently shared an interesting Quora thread with our team. Quora is a platform where users can ask and answer questions amongst themselves. The topic in this particular thread was about public invention designs where the inventor refused to register the rights. Initially, this invention, called project ENQUIRE, was designed to be used internally at CERN. The objective was to share information easily among CERN researchers from one computer to another. He used this as a launching pad for the internet. Using the same technology, he realized that they could scale the capabilities of project ENQUIRE to share information between all computers around the world.
