Tips From Our Senior Product Strategist, Ryan Davidson
Ever wonder what happens when you book an appointment with our product development agency? Here is our Senior Product Strategist, Ryan Davidson, to give you the 411 on our consultation process. We sat down with Ryan to get an insider scoop on the advice he gives to new clients in their initial meeting, the best strategy he thinks they should take and the advice he offers to new startups who have an invention idea they wish to develop.
Q1. What is Generally the Demographic of New Inventors Who Come to Our Product Development Agency?
“I speak with people of all demographics. Whether you’re retired, or still a student; I’ve actually spoken with several children and their parents. We get a wide range, it doesn’t really matter your ethnicity, your age, your religion–it’s everyone coming together. Everyone’s got a product idea at some point, which is pretty great.”
Q2. Why Do You Love Working at MAKO?
By hearing so many different ideas every day, Ryan has developed a keen sense of what makes a great inventor and the important factors they need to have in order to be successful. He’s genuinely interested in listening to you explain and elaborate on your idea, and he’s willing to hear you out.
“Everyday I hear about 10 to 12 (ideas) maybe on average. I hear small ideas that are very simple and big ideas that are very innovative and complex sometimes. That’s the core of my job, that’s what I like the most about working at this product development agency. We’re very passionate people here, we really want to understand your product so that we can help you with your eventual business, which is key.”
Q3. What is the Best Strategy for New Inventors That Come to You?
“Well, I think for anyone who’s starting off with a strategy around coming out with a new product is keeping it simple, to begin with, and really having a goal in sight. Both Kevin (Mako) and I are able to understand your business goal first; how do we reach your business goal through the development of your product? We can work with you and kinda come up with a customized plan.
Going back to that, I think it’s really key to keep the product simple, to begin with, keep the costs down and obviously the time to market down. With any new invention time, to market is very crucial and because we work with startups (that make up probably 80-90% of our overall product development agency) we understand that timelines are really key. We’re always trying to keep the product simple, to begin with, and get you to market as quickly as possible.”
