Wearable Technology Design for Weight Loss

Client success is the number one priority at TriMech Design Solutions (formerly MAKO). It is extremely motivating and inspiring to see our clients’ advanced progress after they recently started developing their products with us.

We look up to them for continuous inspiration as they join the MAKO family, and their achievements become a reflection of our joint efforts in developing a product that is truly remarkable. Our friend and client, Adam Paulin, is a great example of that relationship.

Adam recently came to MAKO to help improve a wearable technology design that he believes will disrupt the weight loss industry. His ground-breaking invention, Thin Ice, is a clothing line that aims to help individuals with weight loss.

Going to the gym might be one of the hardest activities to fit into our busy schedules.  As a personal trainer, an entrepreneur, and a Neuroscience and Psychology graduate from the University of Toronto, Paulin has always been interested in finding a way to use extensively cold temperatures to benefit the weight loss industry.

His wearable technology design stimulates thermo-receptors at the base of the user’s foot to speed up their metabolism. Cooling chips embedded within the wearable technology design trick your body into thinking it’s in a cold environment, and the body responds by warming up and burning fat to keep the blood warm.

The Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) pathway is the vital target for Thin Ice. It is our body’s internal thermostat that helps us naturally burn 50% of our calorie intake by simply generating heat to keep our body at room temperature. This is similar to jumping into a freezing pool and having our body slowly adapt to the temperature.

The revolutionary technology behind Thin Ice targets BAT in the same way, helping trick your body into thinking it’s cold without actually feeling cold.  The wearable tech design can be connected to your smartphone with the Thin Ice APP, allowing users to track their calories and adjust the temperature of the wearable technology design to their liking.

The Wearable Technology Design’s Success on Indiegogo

Having launched his Indiegogo Campaign last week, we are thrilled to see Adam gaining an overwhelming amount of support from the public. Only eight days into the campaign, the Thin Ice Team has reached over 1,573% of its funding goal, exceeding its goal by over $200,000! MAKO is extremely proud of Paulin’s success and will continue to cheer him on as the number of supporters continues to skyrocket.

We simply love our industry for reasons like this. To be able to contribute to such an innovative product that is bound to impact the lives of many is tremendously rewarding for us. The relationship that we develop with our clients is a true reflection of the dedication and effort that we invest in projects jointly. Congratulations Adam!
