TriMech Engineers Go Beyond the Ask to Deliver Comprehensive Engineering Solutions
In this recent video, Bill Ripol, President of Staff Augmentation at TriMech, and Adam Baker, Director of the Project Engineering Group, detail a case showcasing the dedication and expertise that sets TriMech apart for comprehensive engineering solutions.
The client approached TriMech with a seemingly straightforward request: conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on a plastic cone-shaped part that was failing to pass a crucial steel ball drop test.
The Client Challenge
Initially, the client sought our assistance solely to determine the cause of the part’s failure through FEA. However, as Adam Baker reviewed the part and accompanying images, he identified additional potential issues beyond the initial scope. Demonstrating our “yes, and” approach, Adam proposed not only to perform the requested analysis but also to delve deeper into the underlying problems and offer a more comprehensive solution.
Through a collaborative consultation process, our team discovered several design flaws that were contributing to the part’s failure. We didn’t stop at identifying the issues; we partnered with the client to redesign the part, making it easier to mold and capable of passing the necessary test. This proactive approach enabled us to address the real issue—ensuring the part’s functionality and reliability in the field—rather than merely answering the initial question.
Our Comprehensive Engineering Solutions
Our engineers leveraged their extensive industry knowledge and practical experience to guide the redesign process. We then collaborated with the client’s injection molding house, ensuring that the new design was manufacturable and met all strength requirements. This holistic solution underscored our commitment to client success and showcased the value of our in-depth engineering expertise.
If your company faces similar challenges or seeks comprehensive engineering solutions beyond the initial ask, contact TriMech. Our team is ready to help you not just solve problems, but also enhance the overall performance and manufacturability of your parts.
