Client Spotlight: Companion Bike!
A particularly brilliant client we have worked with is Quan Pham, inventor of The Companion Bike!
One of our greatest pleasures at TriMech Design Solutions is getting to meet and work with talented and passionate inventors from around the world! We’ve worked hard as a company to expand our services worldwide and bring world-class design to some of the most booming cities in the world for product design and entrepreneurship.
Thus, opening our office in Austin, Texas has been an exceptionally gratifying experience as we’ve met and got to work with extremely talented minds to help create and bring the next big and innovative products to market using the best Austin product design services!
About the Companion Bike
Invented by our client Quan Pham, the Companion Bike is a tricycle-style bicycle that features a removable front seat and a foldable carbon fiber frame. Like every genius product, the Companion Bike is the perfect solution for those who are unable to ride bikes.
What the companion bike can offer is the freeing feeling of riding a bike accompanied by a close family member or friend! While one person can sit in the front, the other can ride the bicycle from behind and help transport the other person around.
Not only is this invention perfect for those with mobility challenges, such as elders or kids, but it also works as a great option for moving large items from one place to another! The Companion Bike also comes with a bunch of features that make it a convenient and efficient product for the owner.
Thanks to our top Austin product design experts, the Companion Bike features a carbon fiber frame that is designed to fold, making it easy to store or place on a car rack for travel, is adaptable and easy to use, is effortless in its set up or getting to other places and is allowed for use no matter where you want to go!
How We Developed the Companion Bike
When the MAKO team first heard about this idea, we were intrigued and excited to create such an interesting and helpful product that we were sure many would enjoy! Our client, Quan Pham, is a passionate inventor who had a clear vision for the Companion Bike after being inspired by his trip to Vietnam and using mini rickshaws as taxis.
Once picking up this project, our Austin Design team – led by our Director of Design Tim Uys – was challenged with restyling the bike to make it look more modern and exciting, leading up to how it looks today! The most difficult part of the innovation process that Tim and the team faced was making the Companion Bike design foldable so that it could be stored conveniently or take up as much room as a regular bike when built.
After restyling the bike, we began to work on the prototype for the new design of the Companion Bike. Our Austin office incorporated state-of-the-art carbon fiber into the bike’s design, which improves the bike’s quality and durability due to the material’s structural strength, weight-reducing features, and ability to form complex shapes. This was a choice suggested during the concept design phase.
As seen from the videos, we were able to create a functional and quality prototype!
